2026 NPTE Topic Process

Thank you to everyone who submitted and voted for topics for the 26th National Parliamentary Tournament of Excellence. The top vote getting topic papers were:
1. University of the Pacific – Iran-US Relations
2. Diablo Valley College – C5+1
3. Parliamentary Debate at Berkeley – Yemen
4. University of the Pacific – Chocolate Economics
5. William Jewell College – Arctic

Congratulations to those authors and institutions whose topics were selected.
This year’s Topic Committee will consist of myself, serving as Topic Committee Chair, NPTE President Baker Weilert-Pekar, NPDA President Adeja Powell, Mason Remaley, and June Dense.

The Topic Committee will have a publicly viewable process, which you can follow in the linked Google Document. We will have final wordings of topics available by February 7. If you have feedback on a topic area, whether that be a preferred word choice, topic phrasing, or anything else, please feel free to comment on this post, email the NPTE Board at NPTEBoard@gmail.com, or reach out to a member of the committee directly. We’re happy to consider community feedback as we craft these topics.
